Responsibilities

 

ACO combines the positions of Dog Officer and Inspector of Barns and Animals. The Dog Officer is responsible for dealing with stray and lost dogs, nuisance dogs, dog bites, home finder service, rabies clinics, and any other dog related matters.

 

The Inspector of Barns & Animals is responsible for checking the conditions under which cattle and domestic animals are kept and the condition the animals themselves are in, and to act accordingly (MGL Ch. 129, sec 2).
